In the changing research environment, communication has become a major strategic issue. Today more than ever, scientific communication occupies a crucial place and the promotion of the laboratory to all audiences is essential.
By sharing its knowledge, CPPM is at the heart of major societal debates: answering the scientific questions of our time and anticipating future technological breakthroughs.
Specific tools and actions aimed at a varied public are implemented by our teams through collaborations with the communication and scientific and technical culture departments, of our supervisors and partners (institutional and scientific).

General public
CPPM inform the general public about scientific and technical advances in research through meetings and exhibitions, both inside and outside the CPPM. Since 2005, we have been organizing a series of monthly conferences for the general public entitled "Mysteries at the Heart of the Universe and Matter". We participate in major events such as the "Fête de la science", the "Nuit européenne des chercheur.e.s.", "Treize minutes". We complement our exhibitions with didactic material such as the cosmophone, a sound installation that reproduces the flow of cosmic rays in real time.

Youth
We encourage high school students to pursue scientific careers by introducing them to research careers and scientific approaches. We offer them attractive and innovative scientific culture operations. CPPM also participates in numerous educational activities through teaching materials and scientific workshops. We welcome students for discovery courses, supervised personal work (TPE) or supervised personal initiative work (TIPE).

Scientific dissemination is carried out by "classical" means but also by more innovative means, for example by using art as a vector.
Two illustrative projects, supported by the DRARI, the South Region and the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur academic region:
**The cinema and the world of elementary particles
The Polly Maggoo association has created a series of activities that combine cinema and science for the general public, especially young people. Their objective is to make accessible to all a culture such as research, science, innovation, artistic and cultural heritage, cinematographic creation. The challenge is to present the sciences in their diversity, through the cinema considered as an art, in order to awaken curiosity, to arouse dialogue and to cross the views.
Conceived as a time of education to the image and experimentation with a transdisciplinary vocation, the Cinesciences workshops have the ambition to transmit to the students tools of understanding and analysis, from the cinema as well as from the sciences and techniques, by updating the devices used, the specificity of the artistic and scientific approaches (their common points and differences), the uses of the moving image in science, cinema, and the audiovisual professions, as well as their modes of dissemination, in order to contribute to the development of critical thinking and the exercise of argumentation. At the end of this course, the students will be asked to write personal texts on a short film, and to produce short videos on science and cinema issues, to which the scientists involved will provide their answers, as well as the directors of the films that will have particularly caught the attention and interest of the students.
For the second consecutive year, Yann Coadou, particle physicist on the ATLAS project, participated in one of these workshops with : Frédérica Barrios and her students from the René Char high school in Avignon, the filmmaker Thierry Lanfranchi and Serge Dentin from the Polly Maggoo Association.

The theater and the neutrino, cosmic messenger.
The scientists of the ANTARES-KM3NeT team are involved in an "Art and Science" partnership on an original work: "Aganta Kairos" by Laurent Mulot. Thisvisual artist, was inspired by the scientific experiments ANTARES and KM3NeT to create it. The work and its various developments, such as its theatrical adaptation with director Thierry Poquet ([compagnie Eolie Songe] (http://eoliesonge.com/)) then the actions aimed at all audiences, including schoolchildren, now contribute to making the second generation KM3NeT experience known.

Teachers
We propose to teachers to intervene in their high schools, to visit our laboratory and to carry out scientific culture operations with them. CPPM, thanks to the initiative of the Institute of Nuclear and Particle Physics (IN2P3), on which we depend, offers secondary school teachers the "School of the Two Infinite" scheme. It allows them to introduce the scientific field into their teaching. It also offers internships at CERN and documentary resources, such as the book "Passport for the Two Infinite". CPPM has also designed a cosmo-detector - it quantifies the flux of cosmic rays at different angles of incidence - deployed throughout the country, available to all schools. This has been possible thanks to the ministerial initiative "Science at School". In parallel, CPPM actively participates in the scientific culture actions developed by AMU IPhU (Institute of Universe Physics).
